What Is IAD Skydiving?

Instructor Assisted Deployment (IAD) is a safe and structured way to perform your first solo skydive. Unlike tandem skydiving (where you’re harnessed to an instructor), IAD allows you to jump solo from day one, while still having professional support.

Here’s how it works:

• You board the aircraft with your training team.
• At an altitude of around 5,000 feet, you exit the aircraft alone.
• An instructor, standing inside the plane, assists in deploying your parachute the moment you leave.
• Once the parachute is open, you control it yourself, navigating the canopy and steering toward the landing area—with your instructor guiding you via radio.
• You land the parachute solo, just like a licensed skydiver would.
